lengthening #2

July 16th we set out for Makani's 2nd lengthening, she was prepared so it was easy going in, goal is 5 cms.

Makani remained happy as she was about to head out to surgery. While mom and dad wandered around for hours waiting. Every update was good she was fine. Finally she was in recovery and there was a power outage right before we got to go see her, finally she was found and we got to go see her. We had to wait till 8/9pm to get a room since there were no elevators to  move her and when we did moving her made he'll break loose and the pain spiked from her fear.

sorry i'm very late updating Makani had her cast removed 6-11-2012 she had to wear a thing to stabalize her knee for awhile

Fracture & casting

well it was about 6 weeks till fixator off her dad brought her to me while he went to work for a few hours before her appt & said she couldn't walk which many times she'd play like she couldn't so she could be carried, well she couldn't walk & her dad took her to her appt called to tell me she was going to have surgery that week & she had fracture so she'd be casted............oh man oh man just 6 weeks away & i was shattered i didn't want her to be casted & i didn't know how this could happen. i talked to the doctor later on & he wanted her for surgery the next day :( she also spent her 5th b-day in the cast which was rough but she doesn't recall a bad day

after removal of the cast i saw her leg and i wanted to cry it looked the same as it did before we lengthened eventually it was figured out of the 7.3cms she got about 3cms i guess i should have been grateful but instead i was angry & hurt for Makani

Makani's lengthening Dec 2011-May 2012

We were at CHOC waiting it's sooooo hard to just wait for them to take your baby but i was calm & i knew God was in control & everything would be fine, she was already given diladid by the time i arrived (her dad went down with her first) so this is how she was when i got there she was happy lol.

waiting for the surgery to be done is even harder hours of waiting to even see her but we managed to grab some food & just hang around & talk until she was out of surgery, out of surgery is where reality sets in a bit harder but she's tough, they had her up & walking quickly i was scared it was soooo soon & we took a visit to a room to sit & read & to color most the time we really spent controling pain meds till she was on what she could go home with they kept giving her diladid for pain which i found odd because they didn't do that the first time it made her happier though 

we just wanted to go home....well Makani wanted to stay but it was time to be home & i was soooo happy & scared to go home & when the bandages came off & turns started it was scary but it wasn't long before we had a "normal" routine down

now by Christmas she was much more comfortable & had a great Christmas despite the fixator

there were many adventures for Makani so i will just add a few more pics of daily stuff & normal things that we did alot of home PT since things went bad with the actual PT so it was all at home we hit 7.3cms & thats when we stopped i will make a new post for the next part

1ST SURGERIES

i will try my best to spell right & what not but it's hard lol, Makani had a hip & knee osteotomy on March 4th 2011 almost 3 years old this was a major surgery & was hours of waiting, she lost alot of blood & she hard a super hard time waking up she didn't open her eyes for like 2-3 days because she went in with pink eye & was still saying she couldn't open them pain meds were hard i hated having to have her on morphine but sometimes she needed it being in a spica cast i've got to say i wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy it's rough but she managed, her favorite pastime was Connor & the tv we tried the play room but lets face it when your body can't bend what do you do? we came home the 7th & well lots happened in the next 5 weeks & 3 days i will share most in pictures as i know for those dealing with this pictures are wonderful.

all in all it was lots of tv leapfrog videos are great when they have to watch tv but it was very hard since transport wasn't easy we stayed home most the time if i left she stayed with her dad or my mom it felt alot longer than 5wks 3 days
